30 years ago, U.A. Local 552 moved from a very small office on the 2nd floor on Ouellette Avenue to this existing building on Tecumseh Road East. The building was renovated to suite the office and training needs. Training was not taken seriously in those days but we were on the right track. Today we have state of the art training facility.

Technology is an ever changing and will continue to change our job in term of mechanical & piping installation. UA Local 552 is proud to have set the momentum to move forward with rigorous and extensive training and certification programs. We are teaching Gas Technician courses approved by the Technical Standard and Safety Authority (TSSA), teaching the Interprovincial Welding Apprenticeship Program (Red Seal) approved by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities (MTCU). Other courses such as Health and Safety, Back Flow Prevention, Rigging, Mobile Crane Operator, Auto Cad, Hydronic Heating, Blue Print Reading, Trade Math, Fixtures and Appliances, Leadership Development, Pneumatic/Fiber optic Control and numerous courses are being taught at our Training Centre.

We have overgrown our existing Training Centre and now are searching for a larger building to continue training and offer new courses to our membership.

Our Business Manager, Executive Board and the JATC are dedicated to the task of developing a highly skilled membership through apprentice and journeymen training designed to service the Industries in our jurisdiction. We believe training is the most powerful tool to compete locally, nationally and internationally.

The success of our Training program is mainly due to the commitment and hard work of our Instructors who work all day and then teach in the evening and weekends missing valuable time away from their families. Heartfelt thanks to all our instructors.
